WORLD CUP FEVER

FIFA World Cup fever is cranking up. All 12 groups are finalized and 48 countries are in fine tuning mode for the holy grail of titles. Argentina are the reigning champions and a 2026 favourite, but who has the edge astrologically speaking?

World Cup fever is about to hit and the opening game is weeks away. Official ticket prices are excessive. How typical of Fire Horse year, fixed prices were abolished and demand pricing took over; even black market prices are astronomical — $2million for a single final ticket! So what’s likely to transpire at this year’s FIFA World Cup? I’ll caveat this by saying if I’m invested in a prediction close to my heart (I’m a keen soccer mom) I typically prefer not to make a judgment call. That said in the opening minutes of a 2018 World Cup match between France and Australia, I predicted France would win the 2018 World Cup title — and win they did. In my 2026 Annual predictions written 14 months ago in March 2025, I hinted who might take the title. . . But no lengthy astro analysis was done on all 48 countries. Below is where I started, so let’s delve a little deeper into what might transpire.

Horse and speed are wedded. Add perspiration, adrenalin (synthesised, 1906), vigour and euphoria and you’ve bottled fire — as Sporting fever. A thirst for firsts saw Farina (fire horse native), win the first ever Formula One and Dawn Fraser acing in Fire Horse Luck Pillar. Less fortunate for 1906, medals for elite athletes in the Intercalated Olympics went unrecognised. Be it codes of conduct snafus, climate impacts or the Olympic flames, the 2026 games seem fated. Self-penalising for horse natives. Sport expresses fire’s lighter side, winning the hearts, minds and souls of nations — England still dines on its 1966 World Cup victory. There will be no escaping the World Cup this June and July. If soccer isn’t your jam then you could feel like nothing but soccer chat will dominate your feed, your socials as news headlines permeate into your personal life. As previously indicated the crux of Fire Horse is the sheer over abundance of Fire element. Fire is also associated with communication themes, another reason why it may feel all consuming coverage wise. Also there’s 104 games; previous years only had 64 matches.

Astro cycle wise it’s worth noting the Oxford English dictionary cites the first written use of the word football to describe the round ball was in 1486 - a previous fire horse year! And on June 11, 2026 the opening game kicks off — in a Fire Horse year, Wood Horse month and Fire Dog day . . . two horse self sabotage, but do they?

In my Q1 general sports predictions for 2026 I noted this year’s Winter Olympics had its fair share of snafus. Perhaps the same fate for World Cup 2026 with a unique format already in the mix. An additional 12 countries play this year with some historically rare first appearances. Ticket prices a questionable snafu, making the ‘gentleman’s game played by ruffians’ out of reach for most. While the fuel crisis saga may impact ticket holders missing games or travel standstills with stranded fans caught in travel chaos. The 2026 Winter Olympics had a clean sheet in doping metrics. Perhaps the soccer fest has a doping saga that’s adrenaline related; a new drug blamed, not falling within the guidelines? Either ways there's a glitch, an inflammatory factor that speaks to a literal World Cup ‘fever’, uber hot soaring temperatures in Jun/July in host countries. Athletes the greatest risk. Horse likes to break records and heat may be one of the records set. While symbolically horse is the only shod sign in zodiac, and shoes played a key role in London’s record breaking Marathon; will footwear be noteworthy? Oh will there be the first ever poker scored (four goal in one match)? My 15 year old scored his first ever poker this season! Postscript - Codes of conduct snafus ⓵ ⓶ ⓷ ⓸

THE SHORTLIST

Whittling down a large volume of data into a single prediction is a mammoth astrological task. A lack of like-for-like comparison data plus no coach/manager or captain charts considered for 48 teams skews comparison metrics. Analysis metric are patchy at best, but looking at one certainty it’s the finals match - 19 July 2026 @3pm local time. A Wood Horse and Wood Goat appear in year and month pillars - bringing a The Noble Pair of Yin and Yang" Annual auxiliary star, aka the Sun star and forms a six combo connection. Fire Horse year is also emblematic of Summer Solstice and peak sun.

Now to the shortlist — deduced via purely astro metrics. Spain and France** haven’t made the astro cut, even though I’m told they are favourites in betting circles. Spain has several incomplete astro charts available*, in the interest of truest comparing same criteria across all case studies I’ve discarded. But via visual Flag metrics, it’s elementally aligned and echos the Li fire ☲ trigram. France’s foundation chart isn’t available so first match date was considered instead. On paper it’s a very harmonious relationship with Finals chart; two natal Dragons self sabotage meeting wood goat on match day plus another Wood Goat pillar in French teams chart — that’s a second Fu Yin pillar - suggesting a structured organized team but they might take too long contemplating their moves and injury prone. Also they won previously under cooler charts. Without either teams founding charts it’s like comparing apples with orange, so I’ve eliminated both but July isn’t overly favourable month for France. Brazil is in a horse luck pillar and this year it’s the teams nobleman ( a guardian angel).

[** Addendum — Assessing every coach’s chart is beyond the remit of this article but if any of above countries get into finals I’ll dig into coaches charts. Recently I took a look at French Coach’s chart, born in 1966 a Fire horse year and a horse day similarities to Finals chart. . . . perhaps there’s another contender. And interesting note on their Flag — water colour separated by Metal; reading left to right it’s fire controls metal and feed water. Or water drains metal and exhausts fire. In a fire year could be beneficial.]

TOP ASTRO CONTENDERS

Drum Roll, via purely astro lens here’s the top three contenders - Argentina, England and Germany. And a wild card.

England, as mentioned in my annual forcast have the 60-year-cycle in its favour. But look at Germany’s chart who coincidentally were runner up in 1966. Germany and England have the same year and month pillars - even though established 180 years apart. Therefore the day, 10 year luck and hour pillar of match are what separated in 1966. Germany have won the World Cup mainly in former Horse years, missing out in 1966 - at the 90th minute scores were level. England wore red, a beneficial move as Germany’s chart favoured fire, in the 120th minute the 4th goal came and Rooster hour clicked in.

England’s founding chart has duplicate Fu yin Metal Horse pillars in day and year. Germany has Earth Ox day. In a horse year Ox is considered Harmed and Ox has an inauspicious auxiliary star that’s actually called Brutal Defeat! While England’s day horse formed a trine with the Tiger on the day of the 1966 match.

Fast forward to 2026 the month and year pillar will be identical to 1966 chart (fig.1)— the difference is day and Luck pillars again. The Finals will fall on a Wood Horse Pillar. So how would Germany’s Ox favour against a Horse? Another harm signature, but they’re in a Rabbit Luck Pillar this time, Rabbit has many favourable annual stars one of which does indicate a happy celebration— but also a destruction quality. England’s day Horse revels in a Goat month as it brings a secret soulmate quality there . Their current Luck pillar is Water Tiger which also forms a beneficial 1/2 trine with Horse, but they’re injury prone to boot and another Horse day final could mean double self sabotage. Could Germany deliver the goods this time round?

Argentina’s National team founded on the Solstice in 1902, this foundation chart mirrors this year’s LNY chart with a fire trine, and symbolizes what they produce in the chart. Also in horse luck pillar, their career pillar is Fire Horse, which could trigger a self sabotage note — but Horse and Goat in Finals chart could temper out as soul mates. Messi, THE GOAT, maybe a metaphorical Goat, mirroring their nobleman animal. The issue with Argentina is their Dog pillar and Final’s Goat month have a destructive and punishing relationship. Argentina favours Water element, and there’s an absence in year and especially in Finals chart. But a standout cherry is the Argentinian flag that mirrors the Li trigram (fire ☲) with a Solstice Sun in the centre, symbolic of fire horse.

The wild card is Uruguay founded a month after Argentina on 20 July 1902, meaning they’d celebrate a solar return the day after Final match. Argentina and Uruguay both yang wood daymasters like Final chart but the natal month pillar is a Fire Goat in the palace of career imply soft power. Fire represents their skill and earth symbolizes Wealth. Uruguay transits a Goat luck pillar (not shown) which form the aforementioned secret friendship with Horse year — and it’s their nobleman sign. Finals chart has the wood goat between two horse pillars which speaks to companionship, which could imply Team and wealth themes. Wood is a favourable element and Finals chart supports them. Add another Sun emblem showing up on their national flag (fire horse symbolism). Another celestial auxiliary Sun star via Goat month . . . . July looks like a favourable month for Uruguay. The first World Cup recognized by FIFA was in 1930, a Metal Horse year; won by Uruguay. Other folks recognize 1906*, another Fire Horse year as the First World Cup — also won by Uruguay. [* I always correct and fact check predictions, apparently 1906 is misinformation! Uruguay won World Championships in 1924 Wood Rat year & 1928 Earth Dragon year both recognized by FIFA. And World Cups in aforementioned 1930 & 1950 Metal Tiger year.]

Finally the 3pm Monkey hour on Final Day implies a team will feel Robbed. The 1966 finals match between England V’s Germany goes down in history as the most controversial World Cup final.
