Solar Horse year began on 4 Feb 2026, two days later the 2026 Winter Olympics began seeding a year of sporting events that would dominate the calendar. Hello Sporting fever.

It’s a pet peeve of mine, when animalism is the only lens used to decode the meaning of the twelve transcendental zodiacal animals. Take the ubiquitous use of the word ‘shedding’ in reference to Snake last year. When Tiger, Rabbit, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Dog, Rat, Ox and Pig also shed their coats, even Rooster it’s feathers. So pure naturalism analysis oft gives a bum steer, snakes animalistic uniqueness was hibernation — the ‘woke’ term dominated main stream media. While a naturalist look at Horse isn’t the only analysis lens, on this occasion Horse’s animistic associations are worth mention. Q1 of 2026 has showcased some of Fire Horses best qualities. Here’s what I’ve predicted relating to sport.
“Horse and speed are wedded. Add perspiration, adrenalin (synthesised, 1906), vigour and euphoria and you’ve bottled fire — as Sporting fever. A thirst for firsts saw Farina (fire horse native), win the first ever Formula One and Dawn Fraser acing in Fire Horse Luck Pillar. Less fortunate for 1906, medals for elite athletes in the Intercalated Olympics went unrecognised. Be it codes of conduct snafus, climate impacts or the Olympic flames, the 2026 games seem fated. Self-penalising for horse natives. Sport expresses fire’s lighter side, winning the hearts, minds and souls of nations — England still dines on its 1966 World Cup victory. In 2026, a competitive games calendar awaits.”
Writing 2026 predictions in March 2025, it became obvious there was no escaping the intense Fire pillars of 2026. Horse alone symbolizes peak Fire element, but the crux of Fire Horse was the sheer over abundance of Fire element via Heavenly stem being Yang Fire. Unlike 2014, in Horse’s last annual tenure he ponied up with Yang wood and not nearly as fiery or intense. If you’ve had a Bazi consult and Fire is a favourable element then you’ll know that sports professions are a well suited career choice. So 2026 was always going to have a light joyous note when it came to Sport in Fire Horse year. Another telltale signature was an annual auxiliary General Star that nods to leadership and competitive sportsmanship. Add to that Fire horse is a ‘Yang Blade’ star that has many manifestations but can bring great success - strong will and extreme qualities in elite athletes.
Although speed is an easy analogy to make in a horse year; strength and stamina are other components. While researching specifically Fire Horse athletes I’d noted two standout Athletic charts. American Randy Barnes is a 1966 Triple horse and Bing Fire Daymaster has an extremely strong fire chart that’s delivered Olympic gold medal winner for shot put, he’s broken World records. Born on the same day is Czech Olympic Jan Železný has three identical pillars - (neither hour pillar is known) he’s an astonishing number of Olympic golds and a world javelin record breaker. Both examples speak to upper body strength and stamina. This year’s 2026 Winter Olympics seems less likely to standout out in Athlete’s per say, as an elementally colder event in the calendar than Summer Olympic games. However I still felt the games would me memorable for other reasons.

Unknown to me at the time of writing in March 2025 the Olympic bid by Italy had a strong environmental bias. A story broke in Feb 2026, months after predicting my ‘climate impacts’ that the deforestation of a 150 year old forest occurred to make way for a bob sledge course ⓵! The games were also mired by a ‘Great Olympic lie’⓵ controversy. Plus another issue the heavy reliance of industrial-scale snow-making - a massive environmental toll on of water and energy. Perhaps less obviously related to environment was the the strong focus on sustainability and environmental concerning Olympic medal manufacture. 2026 medals were made using recycled metals and cast in induction furnaces powered by 100% renewable energy. While less fated than the 1906 Intercalated Olympics medalists who received gilt plated gold, during a period when solid gold was the norm they also never had their medals recognized by the Olympics committee. The 2026 medalists metaphorically had medals detached from their ribbons during presentations; a manufacturing fault was to blame⓵. But uncannily echoing the medal theme of 1906.
Considering the strong fire theme, I’d forebode Fire as a key theme connected to the Olympic flames — and it was. For the first time in Olympic history, two cauldrons were lit in two different locations simultaneously ⓵ And the term ‘Essential’ ⓵ was used to describe the torch with the focus on the Flame cauldron and not the torch! And even before the twin cauldrons were lit, mother nature prevented the traditional use of parabolic mirrors to light the Olympic flame, this only happened twice before in 2004 and 2024, since the symbolic lighting tradition was revived in 1938 ⓵.
Sports and sadly doping often go hand in hand; aforementioned Barnes allegedly tested positive for steroid and banned from competition in the 1992 Olympics but went on to win gold in 1996. The 2026 Winter Games surprisingly had no positive doping tests. Instead this year’s Winter Olympics controversy relating to male enhancements headlined ⓵ - capturing vim and vigour of a different nature which apparently carries an aerodynamic advantage in ski jumping - a winter equivalent to horse Jumping? Interestingly for the first time in history there’s an Enhanced Games ⓵ proposed in May 2026 in Las Vegas — a “drug-allowed” alternative to the Olympics. The manifesto is to break world records, via performance enhanced substances. Triggering the synthesizing the Adrenaline 1906 sport themes. And arguably crossing an ethical red line given Olympic strict anti-doping policy. Horse crosses many red lines in 2026 . . . crossing sporting Rubicons.
“But for all the gusto, this is a time of standstill, an interlude to seek clarity on next steps. You may even feel enlightened. Now, under the starting gun we cross the Rubicon. On your marks, get set, go! ”
Returning the ‘Horse and speed are wedded’ part of Fire Horse prediction. Formula One season still purrs on, but Italian racing driver Giuseppe Farina, a 1906 fire horse native also died in a fire horse year 1996, he was the 1st ever official Formula One champion. Who know what Q2 will bring: still watching with 21 more games to follow. Perhaps it’s fated by fuel crisis in future events.
To a race track of a different variety; athletics has many some astonishing headlines. Australia is set to host the 2032 Olympic Games and the Commonwealth games in UK later this year. Track and field athletics are laying the foundations now. In the last few weeks two Australians Murphy and Gout Gout broke records on the same day — both have an sub 20seconds in 200m, with comparisons to Bolt for Gout Gout. Kennedy made sub 10seconds in 100m on home soil at the same Australian Meet. Then there’s Eddie Nketia another athlete to watch on the track in 2026.
Staying the distance another stamina horse theme, saw the 2026 London Marathon headline with historic records broken by Kenya’s Sabastian Sawe, shaving 65 seconds of world record with a sub 2hr record ⓵. And Ethiopia’s Yornif Kejelcha also recorded sub 2hr and third place beat the previous year’s record. A super shoe is said to give Sawe the edge - yet his astrology chart doesn’t need a shoe to confirm. He’s born on identical day pillar , the fire horse native therefore born with a ‘Yang blade.’ Interesting astro if nitty gritty of Bazi is your jam. He in a Fire Rat luck pillar, clashes with his day pillar, with an extremely Strong chart and predominance of wood - wood feeds fire! His chart has very little fire and fire can be viewed as a neutral element. Sundays race chart has predominate earth an a favourable element for him. Adding to the horse theme he raced on a Metal horse day and completed during a Water Horse hour - plus fire horse year and his own natal fire horse pillar!
Heading into May, Q2 begins; spanning June and July peak Fire season . . . let us see where the Commonwealth games, Formula One and T20 takes us. And who can forget the Mens’ Soccer World Cup— the UK has records in the marathon, will the cycle repeat with the cup returning to England? Or perhaps the less spectators in all sport fixtures as a fuel crisis escalates?
